4th Cohort SA&A Issues, Crisis & Reputation Management Course completed on October 30, 2025

October 30, 2025 – The 4th Cohort of the SA&A CPDSO-Accredited Issues, Crisis & Reputation Management Course held on October 30, 2025 with participants from within and outside Nigeria.
The course is a designed for Communications Leaders, professionals and anyone with accountability or responsibility for managing reputation issues or crisis for a business, brand or organization in public, private or NGO context. Participants were introduced to 3 major frameworks:
- The Issues Identification & Management Framework
- The Crisis Management Framework
- The Stakeholder Management Framework
And taught about how to use any or all of these frameworks to navigate, mitigate or manage situations that could become a serious reputation issue or crisis for the entity and its brand.

This is the 4th Cohort of this course since it was launched in 2024 and we notice that the focus of every cohort differs based on the conversation in the room, the participants areas of interest as well as the case studies that are highlighted to illustrate the principles being taught.The focus of the October class discussion was on knowing how to take the opportunity that a crisis situation presents to actually improve your reputation in the marketplace or to consolidate the integrity of your brand.
In class a number of real-life cases where reviewed where two brands (one personal and the other corporate) had improved their brand and reputation significantly through a strategic and stakeholder-targeted communications and engagement approach in managing/responding to a crisis situation. The class also was able to see how specific concepts and principles were applied to ensure that communications was managed in a transparent, credible and effective manner.
Other highlights included the importance of having a structure in place to manage crisis even before it hits and ensuring that the communications team is trained, skilled and has the relevant expertise to understand the difference between an issue and a crisis and to know what needs to be done in each scenario.
The class also reviewed a number of press releases put out by corporate brands in a few incidents in Nigeria this year and broke down the use of the 4 Cs of crisis messaging.
